STUDENT TRAINING PROGRAM

The Student Training Program in the Psychology Department of Spring Grove Hospital Center is APA-approved; we are also a member of APPIC.

Mini-Mester: During January, three-week / 20 hours per week independent study program for psychology undergrads conducted by doctoral- level interns with the guidance of the Director of Psychology Student Training.

Externship: Two-semester, 15-20 hours per week advanced practicum working with patients with serious mental illness. An assessment and therapy (group and individual) element is involved in addition to lectures and seminars.

Internship: Each year three interns are selected from among the 90+ applications we receive. Prerequisites: 1) Current enrollment in a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology Program (APA-approved preferred.); 2) Completion of 1000 hours of practicum; 3) Completion of degree requirements prior to "Match Day", in February of each year; 4) Dissertation/research project in proposal stage (accepted preferred); 5) Good standing in graduate program; and, 6) Malpractice coverage.
