This drawing is taken from an 1801 map of the City of Baltimore, and is the earliest known depiction of the Public Hospital of Baltimore, the hospital that was eventually to become known as Spring Grove Hospital Center. The Public Hospital was located near what is today the intersection of Monument Street and Broadway in east Baltimore.
