This fuzzy image shows the Public Hospital of Baltimore in around 1819.  Also known during this period as the City Hospital, and the Hospital in the Vicinity of Baltimore, the institution eventually became Spring Grove Hospital Center. The Hospital is shown shortly after the "Centre Building" and East Wing were added during a major expansion of the hospital that was started in or around 1808.  The picture is taken from an 1819 map of Baltimore City.
